I tried a healthy weightloss meal plan by Liezl Strydom, and this is how it turned out!
I love to meal plan, so this week I tried a meal plan created by Liezl Strydom. My daughter has moved back home temporarily, and we like to eat the same foods, so I picked out this healthy meal plan for us. I watched Liezl meal prep this menu in just over an hour and thought, “Wow! I want to give it a try!”
What I should have thought through is that I was making this for two people instead of one. I quickly realized that I would need more containers and space in my refrigerator for all of the meals.
I only made 3 days’ worth of meals, but they were delicious, and once I’m cooking for myself again, I know I will head back to this meal plan. Check out what I did manage to cook!
I Tried A Healthy Meal Plan
This 5-day customizable meal plan makes losing weight easy because Liezl has already done the tedious task of counting calories for you. Each meal is around 400 calories, and the snacks average 200 calories each.
There are a few things that made this meal plan stand out from the rest:
- Variety – There are two dishes for every meal. For example, lunch #1 is for 2 days, and lunch #2 is for the other 3 days of the week.
- Meal Prep Options – Instructions to prep everything at once, and a breakdown of each recipe if you only want to cook a few of the meals.
- Precise – She tells you exactly what size and number of containers you will need.
- Helpful Info – Caloric count is already done for you, and she has included a complete shopping list.

Breakfast
Banana Chocolate Chip Overnight Oats
I must admit that these oats were not the prettiest after a day in the fridge. The banana turned the top a little brown, but I was in love once I sunk my spoon in. It was like having dessert for breakfast!
It was also very filling, so I could not finish the entire bowl. And I made one adjustment to the recipe, I used PB2 instead of real peanut butter.
Lunch
Tomato Chicken Bake
This is one of the best meal prep recipes I have ever had the pleasure of eating. I swear it got more flavorful every day!
The original recipe uses tofu and curry, but I swapped the tofu for chicken. I left out the curry because it is not one of my favorite flavors.
Midday Pick Me Up
Nespresso
I didn’t end up making any of the snacks in this meal plan because coffee or lots of water will usually hold me over between meals. I used to be a Keurig girl, but my husband has me hooked on Nespresso now!

Dinner
One Turn Chicken
This lemony chicken was so easy to make and tasted great! The roasted potatoes and green beans were the perfect addition to create a balanced plate.
This meal was my daughter’s favorite, so I sent this one off to work with her in my favorite Pyrex container.
