How I Use My Health and Fitness Notebook to Stay on Track
Keeping up with my health goals, especially while training for big events like the Javelina Jundred, requires more than just discipline. For me, it’s all about having a system I actually enjoy using. That’s where my health and fitness notebook comes in.
I use a Traveler’s Notebook to track my sleep, workouts, nutrition, and overall wellness. It’s my go to notebook for reflecting, logging progress, and staying accountable. If you’re a planner lover or on your own fitness journey, I hope this peek inside gives you some inspiration.
Yearly Health Tracker
This spread helps me get a bird’s-eye view of my year. I mark things like:
- Period cycles
- Days I had alcohol
This helps me spot patterns, especially around energy levels and recovery. Unfortunately, I didn’t keep up with this spread. Check out my video find out why!
Sleep & Training Logs
Sleep is one of the biggest game changers in how I feel, run, and recover. I track sleep quality alongside training volume, including:
- Running and hiking mileage
- Indoor cycling and strength training
- Calories burned
- Monthly summaries and total stats
Monthly Calendar & Block Training
This calendar layout shows which training block I’m in and key events coming up. It keeps me focused on the current week while also preparing for races like my upcoming 100K.
Daily Workout & Notes
Here I log each day’s activity: warm-ups, intervals, trail runs, and even how I felt afterward. On the right side, I sometimes include:
- Interval splits
- Nutrition experiments
- Weight, hydration, or soreness notes
This page helps me stay mindful of how my body responds, not just what I do.
Daily Meal Logging
This layout tracks meals by category: breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, and notes. I use it to:
- Balance protein and carbs
- Reflect on what fuels me best
- Spot habits (like too much fast food 😅 or too little fiber)
Why This Notebook Works for Me
- It’s visual and motivating
- It replaces scattered apps
- It supports my physical and mental health
- It’s simple but intentional
This isn’t a complicated system. It’s a rhythm I built over time that now helps me stay grounded, organized, and inspired.
