I am convinced I have found “Planner Peace.” Let me explain why.
Finding Planner Peace
I’m three weeks into my marathon training program, so it’s about time to dial in my nutrition plan. Thinking back, I felt my best, health-wise, while completing the 75 Hard Challenge. My preferred diet was Eat Right 4 Your Type, The Individualized Blood Type Diet® Solution by Dr. Peter J. D’Adamo.
The problem is that I can’t remember what meals I made for myself then, so I am trying to reflect on all my meals and habits during 75 Hard, but the information is scattered everywhere.
Organized Chaos
I used the Wonderland planner to track my dinners, keeping it at the bottom of my weekly layout.
I didn’t use daily pages then; I just kept a daily to-do list.
Multiple Tools
I was wracking my brain, trying to find everything else because I know I always track these things in one form or another. I even went through my Instagram feed, hoping to discover what I was using.
- Journaling about my 75 Hard journey was in my Traveler’s Notebook
- Meals and snacks were being tracked in my Lose It! app
- Workouts were recorded in the Apple Health app
The Solution
That’s when I realized I had prevented this problem from occurring in the future without even realizing it.
My planner journey, from my First Franklin Covey to my current B6 Common Planner and everything in between, has evolved into a streamlined system.
The foundation of my day consists of several components: my to-do list, eating habits, physical activity, and journaling about my day. Each of these details provides insight into my current mental state and overall well-being.
The Benefits of Keeping One Planner
Sometimes, I think, do I really need to track this trivial information? The answer is simple: yes.
As a matter of fact, I just wrote a blog post about Why Documenting Life Matters.
I have referred back to my journals and planners countless times over the years. One time, referring back to my journals, I enhanced a therapy session by bringing light to a pattern developed at a specific time of year.
How I Currently Document My Life
I could go on all day about the benefits, but I’ll give you a glimpse at how I currently document my life.
