Here is an update on my VDS Undyed Janet Leather cover for my Sterling Ink Common Planner.
I am so in love with the VDS Undyed Janet Leather. It was a large purchase for me, but I don’t regret it one bit. It is aging beautifully and carries with it all the character and memories of my life.
VDS Undyed Janet Leather Update
My VDS Covers Slow Patina Process
It has been approximately half a year since I initially shared my Undyed VDS Planner Cover with all of you, and I must say, I am pleasantly surprised by the amount of patina it has developed.
Given that my Common Planner rarely leaves my desk, the gorgeous Janet Leather doesn’t get much time in the sun. Nevertheless, you can still see the gradual transformation of its color and the evolution of its unique character!
Excitingly, I have a new purse from Minooy on its way, and I’m hoping it will be big enough to fit my planner, without overstuffing my bag. This way, I can start venturing out into the world with my planner more often.
Let’s take a Closer Look At the VDS Cover
This view is my absolute favorite. I love the seamless blending of the original color, gradually transitioning into a darker gradient at the edges. It’s a visual representation of the passage of time and the unique journey this planner cover has been on.
I have taken a microfiber cloth to the back of this Undyed Janet Leather a few times. It collects a little bit of dirt from sliding back and forth on my desk, but cleans up easily.
I normally tuck the front and back cover into the planner sleeves, but I think I am only going to tuck it into the back from here on out.
Initially, I inserted both because the cover on the original Common Planner is quite flimsy, and needs to be protected. However, the new version of the planner comes with a significantly sturdier cover.
Since the original cover is so delicate, I use a clever hack that I stumbled upon. I insert a couple of thin cardboard pieces to make sure the planner slides in and out of the leather cover smoothly and without any bending or getting stuck.
A Few Thoughts On My VDS Cover
As I mentioned in my previous blog post, the fit is a little snug. If I had it to do over again, I would personalize the cover and add a little height to it. This would allow enough room for me to keep a clear cover on it.
For some, you might want to add to the width as well, but I like the compactness of it. And these Midori Tabs are so minimal, they don’t get in the way at all.
I have to say, my Undyed VDS Planner Cover has totally blown me away with its excellent craftsmanship, patina, and unique look. It’s fun to see how the colors have blended over time, especially the transition from the original shades to the darker gradient at the edges. And let me tell you, my Common Planner now has a luxurious new home with this cover, and it is well protected.
All in all, this VDS leather cover investment has been a total game-changer. It’s not only well-made and practical but also adds a stylish touch to my planning adventures. I’m one happy planner girl, that’s for sure!
